Friend, I Still Remember

Friend, I still remember
First day of our school, we were standing in a queue,
I was crying too loud, and you looked at me so amused,
Gave your only chocolate to make our friendship.

Friend, I still remember
We opened our eyes in the middle of Morning Prayer
Traveled the world holding the handles of your father’s scooter,
Roamed through the corridors, making sounds more louder.

Friend, I still remember
The nicknames we kept for the students and the teachers,
How you used to save me from the beating of my mother.
I was your world and you embraced me more than your own brother.

Friend, I still remember
How we plucked the flowers from the school garden,
There were no secrets, we shared every trick,
From solving a problem, to the art of fighting.

Friend, I still remember
The last day of the year,
The promise to stay friends forever,
The farewell with eyes full of tears.

Friend, I still remember
Doesn’t matter even if you don’t remember,
You always said we were one, and I still remember.
… And I still remember.
